Frequently Asked Questions

You are in the early stages of thinking about a new brand or website and you have questions. Good! Something is leading you here, whether it’s the recognition that you need to provide a better online experience for your visitors, or a new target you have for your upcoming event. Either way, these are the questions we hear most often from founders and teams in the events and experiences space.

If you cannot find what you are looking for, we’d be happy to talk it through.

Working with Bonito

Who do you work with?

We work with founders and teams building events and experiences. That includes music festivals, adventure companies, retreats, wellness concepts, sporting events, cultural programmes, and experience-led brands of every shape. If your audience buys a feeling and not just a product, we are probably a good fit. See our work.

Do you only work with events and experiences?

It is our specialty and where we do our strongest work, but we occasionally take on projects outside the category when the brief is a good match for how we think. If you are unsure, book a free consult and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right studio for the project.

Where are you based and do you work internationally?

We are based in Europe and work with clients globally. Most of our collaborations happen across time zones, and we are set up for it. Clear communication, shared documents, scheduled check-ins, and written recaps after every call mean the distance never shows up in the work.

Do you charge an hourly rate?

Rather than charging by the hour, we scope and price projects based on strategy, creativity, and execution. This allows us to focus on delivering the best outcome for your brand without limitations on time.

Are you a big agency or a small studio?

We are a two-person studio, intentionally. Christa leads design with over twenty years of experience. Liza leads communications and strategy with over fifteen. When you work with Bonito, you work with us directly. No account managers, no junior designers handed the brief, no handoffs. Every decision is made by the people doing the work.

Services and Scope

What services do you offer?

Three core services, often combined:

  • Brand strategy, which defines who your brand is, who it is for, and how it shows up in the world
  • Brand identity, which translates that strategy into a visual system including logo, colour, typography, and guidelines
  • Website design and development, built on the strategy and identity to convert the right audience

Most of our clients come to us for a combination of the three. Explore our services.

I only need a logo. Can you help?

Honestly, probably not. A logo on its own will not solve the problem you are trying to solve. We build brand systems, which means the logo is one piece of a much larger set of decisions that make your brand work across every touchpoint. If a standalone logo is what you need, we are happy to recommend someone better suited to that scope.

Can you redesign just my website if I already have branding?

Yes, and we do this often. If your brand identity is solid and it is the website that is holding you back, we can come in and build something that performs. We will still start by auditing your existing brand to make sure the website we build serves it well. Book a consult to talk it through.

What platforms do you build on?

We build primarily in Webflow. It gives our clients a powerful, flexible site that is easy to manage without needing a developer every time something changes. If you have a strong preference for another platform, bring it up on the consult and we will talk about whether it is the right fit.

What happens after launch?

You own your site and can manage it yourself. We hand over a fully documented build, walk you through how it works, and are available for post-launch support if you want it. Many of our clients come back for additional work as they grow, but there is no obligation. The site is yours.

Process and Timeline

What does the process actually look like?

Every project starts with a free consult so we can understand what you are building and what you need. From there:

  • We scope the project and send a proposal
  • Once approved, we begin with a discovery phase to understand your audience, market, and goals
  • Strategy and concept work comes next, followed by design rounds with structured feedback
  • For websites, we move into development and testing
  • We launch together and hand over everything you need to take it forward

Throughout, you will know exactly where we are, what is coming next, and what we need from you.

How long does a project take?

Brand identity projects typically run three to five weeks. Full website design and development runs six to eight weeks. Combined brand and website projects run eight to twelve weeks depending on scope. If you have a specific deadline, tell us on the consult and we will be honest about whether we can meet it.

How involved will I need to be?

More than with a cheap template, less than if you built it yourself. Expect a kickoff call, a discovery workshop, two to three feedback rounds, and a launch meeting. You’ll need to be available to provide us with enough information to move forward, but we do the lion’s share of the work asynchronously and through our tried-and-tested internal framework to deliver work that makes your audience sit up and take notice.

How many rounds of revisions do I get?

Our scopes include defined feedback rounds at each stage, which is plenty when feedback is focused and timely. We have built our process to reduce endless back-and-forth by doing the strategic thinking up front, so by the time you see design, it is built on decisions we have already made together.

Investment and Value

What does a project with Bonito cost?

Every project is scoped individually because every brand is different. It’s why we offer prospects the opportunity to book a free consult, so we can better understand your needs and offer a package that will deliver on your desired results.

Why is bespoke work more expensive than a template?

A template gives you a layout. A bespoke brand gives you a strategic system built around your specific audience, your specific market, and your specific goals. One is a tool. The other is an asset that will carry your business for years.

What is the return on investment?

The short answer is that a well-built brand and website converts more of the traffic you already have and attracts the kind of traffic you want. Our clients consistently see traffic and conversion lift after launch. More importantly, they stop losing prospective customers to a site that did not reflect the value of what they are actually offering.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Every project is broken into milestone-based payments so the investment is manageable and tied to work delivered. We will walk through the structure on the consult.

Getting Started

What should I have ready before a consult?

Come with a sense of what you are building, who it is for, and what is not working with your current brand or website. If you have inspiration, existing assets, or specific questions, bring them. If not, we will guide the conversation. The consult is for us to understand you and for you to see if we are the right fit.

How do I know if we are a good fit?

The consult is built for exactly this. We are selective about the projects we take on because we want to do our best work, and that means making sure every project is the right match. If we are not the right studio for you, we will tell you and, where we can, point you somewhere that is.

I am ready. What is the next step?

Book a free consult. No pressure, no pitch. Just a conversation about what you are building and whether we are the studio to help you build it.
